The Spice Goddess Event

I was one of the lucky 10 Durban lady bloggers to be invited to the first exclusive Spice Goddess Event, run by Sue Levy from the award winning inspirational Just Pursue it blog and Verushka Ramasami from the Spice Goddess blog. This event not only made me feel like a spoilt brat, but it also helped me look back on the years I have spent on creating this blog, and celebrate the accomplishments made, big and small.

When we arrived Fuze tea mocktails were presented at the door and our hosts from Be Pampered Spa, the Mystic Sisters, introduced themselves. I was a bit late; then again I always run late... It is a Deane trait after all. It was a small event that certainly packed a punch. Once we were all seated and did our hellos with bloggers we knew and had only just met, Sue Levy and Verushka opened the event up. Not too sure what we were in for, they made sure we knew this event was for us, to enjoy, relax, have fun and most of all feel like goddesses by the time we left. With no further a due, we were sent off to our treatments of pedicures or full body massages.

If anyone knows me, they will know I felt like a fish out of water, as pampering and I seldom go together in the same sentence… mainly because I am very ticklish and automatically become a wriggly worm or jolt my body in awkward convulsions when massaged and especially when someone is about to give me a pedicure. I have often had horror thoughts of accidently kicking a beautician in the face during a pedicure. Who would have thought my dangerous side comes out at such moments?

Although I was uncomfortable in this situation, the ladies at Be Pampered Spa put me at ease, and were very professional and made my first full body stone massage pleasant. I managed to hold off the wriggles and foot spasms. Once our pamper sessions were done, we then made our way back into the dining room for a homely lunch of peri-peri prawns and chicken pieces, with yellow rice and veg. While enjoying our meals we listen to the guest speakers of the day. We learnt how to read our men by just looking at their hands, and were introduced to some stunning brands like Renew, Morgan Taylor, Anni King Purses and handbags, Foschini’s perfume ranges of Jimmy Choo and Karl Lagerfeld to name a few.

As wonderful as this day was, the one highlight was listening to Sue Levy. She really does inspire people and has left me with a few pearls of wisdom and even more determination to pursue my passion and dreams after hearing her personal journey. When looking around the room, I could see I wasn’t the only one being inspired and touched by a part of her journey.

When leaving, we were each given huge goodie bags! There was not just one goodie bag, there were many and I have to say thank you to each and every one of the brands. You all have made me feel so special, and I seriously can’t wait to use each gift!

I have to say a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to Verushka, Sue, Be Pampered Spa, the Mystic sisters, the beautiful bloggers who were all there, Fuze iced tea, Anni King, Madame Macaron (who bakes amazingly!), eThekwini Municipality, wicked donuts, Essentials magazine, Living and Loving magazine, Your Family magazine, Woman & Home magazine, Original Cocktails, Renew, Island Lilly, Spree, Evolution Keratin, Trinket Trove, Pretty Thing, EverySUN Everyday, G-U-M, Morgan Taylor, Black Cherry,  Karl Lagerfeld, Jimmy Choo, Foshini Group, Lip-ice, Romeo Foxtrot, REN skincare, GHD, Stila, Rain, NAFHA, Mc Nab’s, John Freda, Dischem, Gluco-Less and Shimmer.  For the pictures of all the goodies go to Stuffed-Feeling's Facebook page.

Although this blog post may not have a recipe for a great dinner, there is a recipe for life I was reminded about this weekend and I need to share with each of you, and that is to be thankful, thankful, thankful!
